TL;DR
Tilt is building a net-new way to buy and sell online and we're looking for our first Communications Lead to define how the world understands us. This is a rare opportunity to build a comms function from the ground up at one of the most exciting consumer platforms in Europe.
About Tilt 🛸
Tilt’s mission is simple: Make Commerce Alive.
From static store website builders to impersonal marketplaces, today's ecosystem is aging fast. It was built for transactional experiences, not for the new generation of merchants who grow through attention, community and personality.
In the UK alone, millions of shoppers, from sneakerheads and Y2K girlies to collectors and parents, have signed up to Tilt. Our platform has helped sellers go from zero to £1M+ in earnings, and hundreds more earn above the UK median income.
And we are just getting started.
Your Mission 🫵
We're looking for our first Communications Lead; someone to define how Tilt is understood by the press, the public, our seller community, the team and future investors. This isn't a role for someone who wants a pre-built machine. It's for someone who wants to build one.
You'll own Tilt's narrative: shaping how we show up at inflection points, turning our data and seller stories into media moments, and laying the communications infrastructure for a company that's still early enough for you to leave your fingerprints all over it.
What You'll Do 👷
Own and shape Tilt's corporate narrative: from how we talk about our mission to how we announce major milestones like fundraises, market expansions, and product launches
Build Tilt's communications function from the ground up: media strategy, press relationships, messaging architecture, and crisis playbooks
Develop and tell seller stories: Tilt's greatest asset is the people building businesses on our platform, and you'll bring those stories to life for press, investors, and the broader public
Partner with leadership on executive communications, including CEO positioning, investor messaging, and public appearances
Build a data storytelling capability that uses Tilt's unique marketplace insights to position us as a voice on the future of commerce, Gen Z spending, and the creator economy
Own our trade and category communications, making Tilt the name that sneaker, trading card, vintage and streetwear press thinks of first
Act as a strategic partner to our categories, product, and growth teams ensuring comms is integrated upstream, not bolted on at the end
Who You Are 📋
5–8+ years in communications, with meaningful time spent in-house at a high-growth consumer tech or marketplace company, not just agency-side
You've been an early or founding comms hire before, and you know what it feels like to build a function with no playbook
Strong media instincts: you know what makes a story, and you know which journalists care about which angles
A natural narrative architect: you can take a complex business and turn it into a crisp, compelling story that lands with press, partners, and the public
Comfortable owning corporate, consumer, and media communications sometimes all in the same week
Experience working closely with founders and senior leadership, not just executing briefs handed to you
Nice to have
Background in marketplaces, creator economy, fashion, streetwear, or consumer communities
Experience supporting a company through a major capital raise, geographic expansion, or product category launch
Agency roots that gave you broad exposure across consumer tech clients early in your career
Track record of using data or unique platform insights to drive earned media
Why Tilt 💫
You'll own Tilt's story from day one — this is a blank canvas, not a bureaucracy
You'll work directly with leadership and have a seat at the table when big decisions get made
You'll be joining a mission-driven team backed by world-class investors
You'll help redefine how millions of people shop, sell, and connect online
